DUCA DI CASTELMONTE Gibele - Duca di Castelmonte gives us a wonderful wine made from the Zibibbo grape. Formally this grape variety was known as Moscato D'Alessandria and there are many theories as to why this grape has come to have a change of name and identity. One theory ascribed to by Dr. Alberto Vavaro( one of Italy's foremost experts on dialects ) is that the shop keeps of Palermo adopted the term as a designation of higher quality in order to charge higher prices. Regardless of the theories the fact remains that Zibibbo produces a wonderful wine and Duca Di Castelmonte has excelled with Gibele. Dry, fresh with long aromatic finish.
