CANTINA TRAMIN Alto Adige Pinot Noir Reserva DOC Maglen Red Wine 2014

The vineyards:

altitude: 400 – 600 m
soil: sandy loam
age of the vines: 15 – 25 years
slope exposure: west 80 %, southwest 20 %
climate: extreme interplay of sunny days influenced by the Mediterranean climate and the cool nights marked by the cold downslope winds from the surrounding mountains.

harvest date: beginning – end of October

winemaking: At harvest, the grapes are delivered in small bins and immediately gently pressed. Fermentation takes place slowly at controlled temperatures (28°C) with repeated punch-downs of the must to bring forth the typical aromas of the grape variety.

maturation: The wine matures for 12 months in French barriques, followed by another 6months spent in big oak casks. After bottling, Urban rests in the bottle for at least another 6 months.

Tasting notes:

Colour: ruby with light garnet hues

Aroma: sour cherry, cherry, forest fruits, orange and scents of spice

Taste: fine fruit with a salty freshness, delicate and elegant, with a long finish and pleasant fruity tannins

Food pairing: Maglen is a versatile partner for well-structured and savoury dishes like ravioli with goat cheese and is ideal for light mains like roast. In combination with hare or wildfowl it tastes just fabulous and slightly chilled Maglen can be served with fish too. Also try it with spicy cheese!
